I’ve always known Spirit.
AS A LITTLE GIRL,
Â
I’d slip away from my big family into my pink Laura Ashley room, twirl in front of my grandmother’s curved mirror, and whisper to the “ghosts” I felt lingering close by.
Dancing, poetry, and Spirit were my first languages.
BUT LIFE SWEPT ME ONTO OTHER STAGES.
I became a Radio City Rockette,
Performed across New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Italy, and was taken under the wings of some of the most legendary mentors in dance and movement. I owned an award winning Pilates studio, taught barre when it first emerged in LA, and built thriving programs to heal women’s bodies and pelvic floors.Â
On the outside, it looked like everything was in alignment…
On the inside, Spirit kept circling me home.
Life has a way of demanding that we remember.
For me, it came when my mom passed from ovarian cancer -
A loss that split me open and brought Spirit roaring back into my daily life. Not long after my mother’s death, I chose to have a preventative double mastectomy and my ovaries removed, carrying the BRCA1 gene and a 90%+ chance of developing the same cancer both she and my young grandmother passed from.
That season stripped me to the bones of who I am… yet I knew the decision was deeply spiritual for me as I made it.Â
This time period also required me to learn my new body, to breathe into it, to trust it, and to honor it. It demanded that I lean wholeheartedly into my intuition and reclaim the connection to Spirit I had always known.
And that’s when everything changed.
